La Fontica is a boutique hotel, formed of two independent houses, within a newly renovated 200 year old farmhouse, typical of the low Sanabrian architecture.
It is situated in the village of Villanueva de Valrojo, at the base of the Sierra de la Culebra reserve which is well-known for its famous carnaval and proximity to nature.
La Fontica
Main House
The main house sleep up to 12 adults and wraps around a central courtyard. Historically it housed turkeys, peacocks, chickens and ducks and has been lovingly transformed into a calm oasis. The interior of the house has been restored, respecting its ancient features with a touch of sophistication and modernity.

Each bedroom is one of a kind, with a unique personality. The common area boasts a fully equipped kitchen with a chill area by the fire.
Cocina Antigua Bedroom
This room was the original kitchen of the house. It maintains the solid stone floor and has one of the most beautiful bathrooms in the house with exposed copper pipes and a glass basin over the existing solid stone sink.

This is a cosy room which embodies the personality of the house, juxtaposing old raw elements with modern comfort to make you feel serene.
Balcon Bedroom
This room has remained almost the same for 200 years, with original oak ceiling and floors. The two four-poster steel beds have been lovingly restored by my daughter along with other traditional features in the room. It has its own balcony overlooking the street, its bridge and the village.

This spacious room is the most authentic in the house with plenty of restored antiques including the retro bathtub in the ensuite.
Adobe Bedroom
This room with original adobe walls (earth brick construction and render) forms part of an extension of the house at the end of the 19th century. It was used for rye grain storage for over a 100 years. It is accessed via the traditional external timber gallery, opening onto the courtyard, the room also has views onto the street, village and nearby mountains.

This room has a warm and bright atmosphere with an incredible oak truss ceiling.
Marroqui Bedroom
This room has original oak paneling on the walls and floor, all with an arabic atmosphere. We rediscovered a blocked window during the renovation and made it the logo of La Fontica.

This bright room is named after its decoration and colours, with azure walls, rugs and lighting reminiscent of North-Africa.
Blanca Bedroom
This last room has undergone the biggest transformation. Originally in the eaves, it used to house the chimney stack and wheat grain storage in the remaining space. You access it via the open traditional timber gallery.

This room boasts the best views in the entire house, whether from the bed, of japanese style or the pristine bathroom. Finally a toilet with a view!
Annex
The Annex is an independent, fully accessible house which was once the stables. The house sleeps up to 4 adults. The antique stone walls have been rehabilitated to create a vibrant modern space with kitchen, lounge, chimney and sliding doors overlooking the kitchen garden.
The ground floor also hosts a master bedroom (Snug) and wetroom. The modern steel mezzanine has an additional bedroom (Loft) with views onto the living space.
Loft Bedroom
The mezzanine, forged by local artisans, is perched over the living space and is accessed via a wrought steel samba staircase. The loft contains two individual beds, perfect for kids of all ages.
Snug Bedroom
This double room is embellished with industrial aesthetics and materials. The large window provides views onto the kitchen garden.
